2012-present. As a qualified, and experienced, Naturopath and Medical Herbalist I am very pleased to now be operating as an education lead in the natural therapies industry. Established in 1974, the Australian Institute of Applied Sciences College of Natural Medicine represents the culmination of quality tertiary vocational education for Natural Medicine, Massage and Beauty Therapy. The Institute incorporates such fields as Acupuncture, Naturopathy, Massage, Aromatherapy, Kinesiology, Shiatsu, Herbal Medicine, Nutrition, Oriental Herbs, Fitness and Beauty Therapy.
This position takes responsibility for coordinating new product development and maintaining and improving existing products, in all delivery formats, based on feedback from various stakeholders including students, teachers and industry. Since 2010 the AIAS operates as a key entity within Study Group, an acknowledged leader in international education specialising in the provision of world-class university access and English language programmes- with over 60,000 students from more than 130 countries.
Instructional Designer - Franklyn Scholar
2010-2012. Franklyn Scholar is one of Australia's largest private Registered Training Organisations, offering in-person, blended and online training programs in all States.
In April 2011 Franklyn Scholar merged to become part of Kaplan Australia, the combination now extends pathways for qualificatons ranging from certificate through to post-graduate levels. Each year Kaplan educates over one million students, throughout 30 countries and 500 locations. Kaplan is the largest and fastest-growing division of parent company, The Washington Post Company.
My role involves the instructional design of generic educational resources and customised content designed for various national clients. Resources are produced for a range of delivery models that include in-person training, blended learning programs and exclusive online delivery. My participation involves project management for the development of eLearning resources, from storyboarding through to production and implementation. SCORM modules are delivered via a diversity of Learning Management Systems, including Moodle, Trivantis CourseMill and Superior Service World Manager. Resolution of technical issues and debugging requires collaboration with key stakeholders, I perform analytical diagnostics and implement code revisions. Successful operation of eLearning resources, via diverse platforms and operating environments, involves extensive performance review and quality assurance cycles prior to project completion.
In mid-2011 I commenced in the Graduate Certificate of eLearning being offered via Open Universities Australia. The next year offers many opportunities to formailse my experience, expanding understanding of contemporary eLearning and pedagogic principles.
Professional Development Manager - Pharmaceutical Society of Australia
2009-2010. Coordinated 2010 professional development planning with over 100 lectures and workshops occurring throughout Queensland. Implemented Lectopia recording of evening lectures with post-production of narrated PowerPoint videos to 'members only' website, including vidcast output for mobile devices.
In addition to organising presenters, event management and promotion I also facilitated the relocation to new premises at Pharmacy Australia Centre of Excellence PACE. My participation involved the project management to relocate IT and telephony infrastructure, requiring installation of new ISDN and PSTN lines to MDF and Comms Room. This included organising upgrade to a Mitel IP-PBX solution that enabled VoIP and integration with Office 2007. The system is extensible to deliver web conferencing facilities and broadcasting to mobile devices, enabling powerful eLearning solutions to support the introduction of compulsory CPD in the industry.
Student Systems Training Officer - Griffith University
2009. Conducted training needs analysis to implement a blended learning program for change management project resulting from system upgrade to Oracle PeopleSoft v9.0. This involved consultation with key stakeholders throughout the University, organisation and delivery of training sessions, coaching and production of e-Learning resources. Enabled opportunity to work with the new release of Adobe CS4 e-Learning Suite and publishing via IBM Lotus Quickr collaborative workspace.
International Admissions Officer - The University of Queensland
2007-2009. Completed Microsoft Certification for MOSS2007 SharePoint Administration and participated in pilot project for implementation at UQ International. Accepted to Graduate Certificate in Higher Education program. Studied courses (C1 – Introduction to International Education, C2 – Roles & Responsibilities in International Education, C3 – Managing Issues & Critical Incidents) online in Diploma of International Education program.
Production Coordinator - Med-E-Serv
2006-2007. Project management of online education development and delivery of professional development programs for the health industry. Developed new production processes for the implementation of Articulate Presenter narrated recordings, complete with design and installation of chromakey video recording studio. Multiple concurrent projects throughout the year, including development and delivery of the Master of Medicine (GP) online program for The University of Queensland School of Medicine. Update and maintenance of Medicines Australia Continuing Education portal . Other programs delivered via UQ HealthInsitu, PriMed and QLD Health Clinician Development Education Service CDES.
Senior Research Assistant - Centre for Applied Language, Literacy and Communication Studies, Griffith University
2004-2005. Assisting with ARC Discovery funded research project Electronic Curricular Literacies in the High School years. Performing the liaison with school IT administrators for the installation required for digital video capture (Camtasia) and ensuring data collation.
Technical advisor for the Centre, assisting with research installation design, grant applications and hardware/software purchases. Also established and managed Lotus QuickPlace sites for the Centre and various research projects. Produced multimedia presentations and media. Designed, deployed and maintained the Centre website.
Audio-Visual Technical Officer - School of Languages and Linguistics, Griffith University
2002-2004. Production of audio-visual resources from source, conversion to analogue and digital formats- often delivered via Blackboard LMS. Support of audio-visual, videoconference, computing and systems for the School. Operation and maintenance of video production facilities, including support of satellite and terrestrial digital hardware, management of the Off-Air Recording services for the University. Completed CertIV Workplace Training and Assessment.
