New directions...
The past year has held many highlights for Digiviz, our move to the inner city of Brisbane has got us closer to the action. Our new office is located in Kelvin Grove (Phoenix Studio's, close to the Creative Industries precinct) and our facilities have expanded considerably. A new development is the expansion of our production studio to include an integrated DJ and VJ mix station, with the capacity for clients to drop in for a mix that can be integrated with visuals for a direct digital recording. Email is often the best way to catch us, but if you'd like to chat: (+61) 07 3356 6009.
Event production has held many highlights with the opportunity of working with some of our idols, this includes the legendary Gaz Cobain (Future Sound Of London, Amorphous Androgenous, Humanoid), the cunning and contemporary Rex the Dog (previously JX and remixer for The Knife, Depeche Mode, Mylo & more), the dons of HiNRG Alphazone (Nukluez Records), the impeccable turntablist DJ Q-Bert (3 time World DMC Champion) and the ageless Godfather of Hip Hop, Grandmaster Flash. These events and other productions have given us the opportunity to increase the scale and innovation of our video installation. A large thank-you must be extended to the promoters who have given us these moments: Earthcore, FusingBrisbane, Freefall Records, Mayhem Productions, XO Entertainment and the Empire nightclub.
Another highlight has been the opportunity of producing something more tangible and less hedonistic. It has been a great pleasure to work with Brisbane Youth Service on a documentary that reveals the lives and challenges of Brisbane street kids. "Paint" is a Department of Communities and Alcohol Education & Rehabilitation Foundation funded project, for which Digiviz filmed, edited and produced to DVD. The stories told expose the hardship experienced by homeless youth and reveals their battles with chroming and other substance abuse. As confronting as this truth may be, the project holds a resounding promise as these strong individuals share their hopes and dreams. It features music produced by kids who participate in Hip Hop workshops run by BYS, it was a great pleasure to produce filmclips for the poets of often unheard songs.
Your Solutions. Our Focus.
After several years of event and multimedia production, the future direction of Digiviz is expanding into wider horizons. Digiviz will continue to produce quality video installations for large events, yet the focus is surely turning to Project Management for permanent installations. The director of Digiviz, Michael Colenso, has spent recent years in the tertiary sector, developing solutions for large ARC research projects and infrastructure installations. This has included involvement in projects from the drafting of grant applications, the development of research methodologies, the design of IT and AV installations and the management of data collection and post-production. Recent years has seen networking and co-operation with Australia's finest sound engineers, video installation designers, multimedia artists and technical installers.
With several tenders under development, it will not be long before we unleash the most impressive AV installation in the Southern hemisphere. The team consists of people with international experience in nightclub and large venue design, installation and development. A brief overview of the experienced members includes a qualified architect, a certified builder, a sound engineer/system installer, an interactive video designer/performer, a lighting designer/system installer, an electrician/DSP specialist, a specialised data/video cabler, IT infrastructure designers and metal art sculptors. We are negotiating with international designers and manufacturers of cutting edge technologies not seen in Australia, including interactive video bars, walls and dancefloors. Our diverse array of industry contacts ensures that we can deliver the most competive quote for procurement and installation of all AV components.
